Q&A with UNCG alumna Angli Konsa '20

As a student, Angli worked hard to grow her network through events, virtual opportunities, and an online presence on LinkedIn. Her efforts proved successful when she landed a role with Nestlé in the Human Resources division. Angli immediately contacted our team in the Alumni Engagement Office to see how she could support other young alumni. We have an exciting partnership in the works with Nestlé that is entirely thanks to Angli's efforts. Contact our team to see how your company can support alumni!

Tell us how you landed your new job!

I landed my new job by taking the initiative to reach out to a recruiter from Nestlé on LinkedIn to share with them why I would be a great fit for the Human Resource Development program.

What do you like the most about your new career?

What I love most about my new job is the experience of developing my career through HR in a fast pace rotational program. I do six months in corporate and 18 months in manufacturing. I love learning something new every day and I enjoy being able to work with a great team to execute and deliver results on projects.

How did your time at UNCG prepare you for this role?

My time at UNCG prepared me for this role by allowing me to use the skills that I was taught in my classes. Also, I was able to learn about myself through the business program to really understand what kind of career I wanted for me.

I have to say after taking Organizational Behavior Management with Dr. Beitler my second year at UNCG sparked my interest into going into HR. I would also say taking Diversity and Inclusion Management with Dr. Buttner my third and last year has taught me about how I can bring my diverse talent to my organization and push for diversity and inclusion at Nestlé.

Do you have any advice for fellow Class of 2020 graduates?

My advice to UNCG students is to never settle for anything less, know your worth, and know that success breeds success. You have to want it for yourself and you have to go out there and get it. No one is going to hand you a job right after college — you have to take the initiative to reach out to recruiters, build your connections, and never be afraid to ask, “are you hiring?” or tell them “I am right for the role.” When you go into an interview with the mindset that “they want me,” the energy of your interview will be less intimidating. Have that Spartan Spirit and bring your confidence!
