A historic year for Spartans
It’s been a historic year for UNCG. The university kicked off its 125th anniversary celebration, launched a new strategic plan and continued to take “Giant Steps” – from new campus facilities to athletic championships to emerging community partnerships and more. 'It's never too late': 82-year-old Greensboro man is UNCG's oldest graduate
Phil Koch has made history at UNCG. At 82, he was the oldest Spartan to graduate from the university. About his experience, he said: "I know I'm going to miss this tremendously... . Spartans celebrate milestone, new beginnings
Proud graduates. Proud friends and family. Proud faculty and staff. UNCG awarded approximately 1,444 bachelor’s degrees, 281 master’s degrees, 78 doctoral degrees and four specialist in education degrees at the university’s December Commencement ceremonies. Read more.
Board nominations open until January 31
The UNCG Alumni Association Board of Directors is a group of dedicated volunteers who serve the more than 120,000 UNCG alumni throughout the world, by developing programs and inspiring them to be engaged with the University. If you or someone you know would be interested in serving on the UNCG Alumni Association Board of Directors, please complete the form here to submit your nomination. The deadline for submitting a nomination is January 31. Nominations submitted past this deadline will be considered in the following year (or in the event of a mid-year vacancy on the board).
Call for Nominations - Alumni of Distinction Awards
Honor. Integrity. Selflessness. Accomplishment. If you know of a graduate of UNCG or Woman's College that exhibits these qualities, please take a few moments to nominate him or her for a 2018 Alumni of Distinction Award in one of the following categories: Alumni Lifetime Achievement, Alumni Distinguished Service, Alumni Excellence, Young Alumni, or WC Legacy. The deadline for nominations for all awards except the WC Legacy is Thursday, February 1. Nominations for the WC Legacy Award are due by April 30. Beth Hens, Ms. Homecoming 2017
The Mr. or Ms. Homecoming Award is given each year to a UNCG employee (faculty, staff or administrator) who leads by example, embodies the Spartan spirit and is truly committed to providing outstanding service to all. Alumni Spotlight: Yiyang Liu '17
Yiyang Liu, from Luoyang, China, always knew he wanted to study chemistry, following in the footsteps of his chemist uncle. He came to UNCG’s Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering (JSNN) because of its outstanding research capability and resources, and because it was part of the Southeastern Nanotechnology Infrastructure Corridor, one of 16 National Nanotechnology Coordinated Infrastructure (NNCI) sites chosen by the National Science Foundation.
