Celebrating 125 years of opportunity and excellence
June 2 marked the beginning of UNCG’s 125th anniversary celebration, a yearlong commemoration of UNCG’s history as the university looks forward to the future. The institution was chartered in 1891 and welcomed its first class of students – approximately 200 women – on Oct. 5, 1892. Now, UNCG is the largest university in the Piedmont Triad with nearly 20,000 students and more than 2,500 faculty and staff. The anniversary website is now live and features information on UNCG's history, anniversary events and plans for the future.
